What do you people think about this man that was killed by a lion who thought god would save him?

KIEV (Reuters) - A man shouting that God would keep him safe was mauled to death by a lioness in Kiev zoo after he crept into the animal's enclosure, a zoo official said on Monday.

"The man shouted 'God will save me, if he exists', lowered himself by a rope into the enclosure, took his shoes off and went up to the lions," the official said.





"A lioness went straight for him, knocked him down and severed his carotid artery."





The incident, Sunday evening when the zoo was packed with visitors, was the first of its kind at the attraction. Lions and tigers are kept in an "animal island" protected by thick concrete blocks.





I think people that believe in god can be victims of their own belief. This story is a perfect example. Look where his faith got him. Killed. I feel sorry for people that believe in god.

What do you people think about this man that was killed by a lion who thought god would save him?
I believe in God, and dont need pity.





This guy, believer or not is an idiot. God isn't going to show himself in such a manner, duh.
Reply:the man was just plane stupid, and deserved what he got, and as for the lion.....the lion did what came naturally ....self preservation, and i think there should be no harm to come to the lion ......so he thought that god was going to save him......huh yeah right

Reply:This particular man was deranged obviously. Not for believing in God but for his misconceptions about what God will do and why.





Daniel who survived the den of Lions was THROWN IN and did not hurl himself in with the beasts. Most any dangerous situation in the Bible whereby people were miraculously saved alive was not because they put themselves in the predicament.





Even Isaac did not place himself on the alter to be sacrificed. Abraham, his father did. Why? Because God told him to and he knew God's voice. He trusted God would provide a better sacrifice right down to the last second and he did.





This man in the Zoo was not told by God to do what he did, nor did he know God's voice. Abraham had proofs to all that God told him before taking Isaac to the sacrificial alter - and thus he knew God's voice and knew God was gracious to those who loved him.





We know nothing of the man who threw himself to zoo lions. But I do know from the Biblical perspective that the man had no clue about God. It's doubtless God had the man throw his self in to feed the kitties.
Reply:I do not think this sad story has any relevance to the efficacy of faith.





This man had a brain (those with faith would say it was God-given) and he failed to use it.





Sounds more like mental illness, to me.





Should I put a loaded gun in my mouth, pull the trigger, and expect my spiritual beliefs to stop the bullet before it blows off the back of my head, and save me?





I don't think so.
Reply:God doesn't like to be tested. It states this in the Bible. Now if this man was say, punished by someone for his faith in God or something, and someone put him in there, then if it is Gods will, and this man has faith completely, not saying IF God exisits he will save me, then God would save him then. In this case, he tried to test God and God said No Way!
Reply:Well, look at it this way. God did save him from a life of high gas prices and probably real estate tax and credit card debt!

Kind of remind me of that joke where the guy was stuck on his roof in a flood and prayed for God to save him





A couple of guys came by in a boat and told him to get in or he would die. The man said "no thanks, God will save me."





A little while later a helicopter flew by and lowered a rope to him. The pilot told him to climb up or he would die. The man said, "No thanks, God will save me."





The water got higher and higher. Finally a few people in a life raft floated up to the roof and told the guy to get in or he would die. "No thanks, God will save me."





The guy drowned, and when he got to heaven he asked God, "Why didn't you save my life?"





God - "I sent you two boats and a helicopter, what else did you want?"





God expects us to have common sense.

Reply:I believe it proves that both god and Darwin are right!!!!! lol In other words that God gave us free will and Darwin gave us Natural Selection. This man has removed himself from our gene pool of his own free will! ;) See religion and science are not mutually exclusive!
Reply:Well that guy should understand that God did give us wisdom. If you read up on Jesus in the desert when Satan tried to tempt with everything. Satan even tried to Jesus to jump off a cliff to see if God would save him but Jesus quoted scriptures from the Bible, telling how God works. But the main thing is is that God did give you Wisdom to think correctly.
Reply:Actually I don't think he did have faith. If you look at what he said, "........If he Exists". Someone with faith knows he exists and also knows better than to TEST God. I feel sorry for this man and will pray for his soul. And for your sake you don't have to feel sorry for us that believe in god. We're fine. Feel sorry for those whose lives are in such despair that they put themselves in danger.
Reply:To be absent from the body is to be present with God. I am sure you have never heard that since you dont believe in God. God doesnt come when you demand it and especially when you try and set him up to prove himself to you. Its like you with this question, God will not strike you down because even though your a knob, He gives you free will to be a knob. The guy who demanded for God to save him is with Him now. And God will point out to him his flaw. He will also let you go through life being a knob and point it out to you when you die. You are as guilty as the guy in the ;lions den.You want proof and go as far as to say you feel sorry for people like me ? lol Your the one who needs sympathy.
Reply:Don't feel sorry for people that believe in God. Do you want to take a chance on the fact that the Bible is the Word of God and salvation of the soul is in the fact that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins even if you don't believe. When you left up your eyes in hell don't blame God. People that say that God would protect them from lions are stupid and have not studied their Bible. God is not doing signs and wonders today because we walk by faith and not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

The Arizona Highway Patrol were mystified when they came upon a pile of smoldering wreckage embedded in the side of a cliff rising above the road at the apex of a curve. The metal debris resembled the site of an airplane crash, but it turned out to be the vaporized remains of an automobile. The make of the vehicle was unidentifiable at the scene.


The folks in the lab finally figured out what it was, and pieced together the events that led up to its demise.





It seems that a former Air Force sergeant had somehow got hold of a JATO (Jet Assisted Take-Off) unit. JATO units are solid fuel rockets used to give heavy military transport airplanes an extra push for take-off from short airfields.





Dried desert lakebeds are the location of choice for breaking the world ground vehicle speed record. The sergeant took the JATO unit into the Arizona desert and found a long, straight stretch of road. He attached the JATO unit to his car, jumped in, accelerated to a high speed, and fired off the rocket.





The facts, as best as could be determined, are as follows:





The operator was driving a 1967 Chevy Impala. He ignited the JATO unit approximately 3.9 miles from the crash site. This was established by the location of a prominently scorched and melted strip of asphalt. The vehicle quickly reached a speed of between 250 and 300 mph and continued at that speed, under full power, for an additional 20-25 seconds. The soon-to-be pilot experienced G-forces usually reserved for dog-fighting F-14 jocks under full afterburners.





The Chevy remained on the straight highway for approximately 2.6 miles (15-20 seconds) before the driver applied the brakes, completely melting them, blowing the tires, and leaving thick rubber marks on the road surface. The vehicle then became airborne for an additional 1.3 miles, impacted the cliff face at a height of 125 feet, and left a blackened crater 3 feet deep in the rock.





Most of the driver's remains were not recovered; however, small fragments of bone, teeth, and hair were extracted from the crater, and fingernail and bone shards were removed from a piece of debris believed to be a portion of the steering wheel.





Ironically a still-legible bumper sticker was found, reading


"How do you like my driving? Dial 1-800-EAT-SH!T."
Reply:I'm not sure if he believed in God. Why? Because he used the words, "If he exists". We cannot tempt, bargain, command,or use God in foolish ways. He was mauled to death by his own foolishness......God have mercy on his soul.
Reply:Don't feel sorry for us. God said in the bible that his angels will take charge over thee, lest thy dash thy foot on a stone. A few verses later he also says not to test him. Some people bring things upon themselves, i.e. the man in the story. Had he accidentally fallen in and said that God would save him, i think he would have came out ok.
Reply:God did save him. What people saw being mauled to pieces was simple a dead body transposed from another time-space.
Reply:What an idiot. God does not need to prove himself to anyone. If this guy really believed in God he would not question his existance and believe in and have faith in him anyway.
