And I ain't talkin' your average - but overfed - Ginger Tom!
I've been 'avin a ponder tonight. I seem to remember hearing from somewhere that there are 7 types of 'big cats.' I reckon they are -
Tigers
Lions
Lynx
Jaguar
Leopard
Panther
Puma
(I know there are others - Ocelets etc - but I am assuming they 'fit' into one of the above?)
Right, so my first point is, are my 7 big cats correct?
Secondly, my friend swears blind that panthers (black) are extinct, or heading that way. I think it's Lynx's that are ... Are either of us right ?
Thirdly, are there really big cats living in the British countryside? If so, why and where ?
Fourth - Do you really get pink panthers ?!?
Anyone know anything about big cats ?
tiger
lion
leopard
jaguar
cheetah
puma, panther, mountain lion (all the same)
linx, bobcat (same)
second
neither panther or linx are on endangered spiecies list
third
mountain lions are in great britten, they are not native to
england, but people who had them as exotic pets either
let them loose or they got away...
fourth
only if you dye their hair..

Reply:Dunno, we only get snow leopards round these parts.
Reply:stay away from them when they are hungry
Reply:The Pink Panther was a jewel from India (or so says the first film) but there are 8 big cats, the 8th one being the Cheetah!
Reply:actually the big 7 refers to lions tigers leopards bison elephants giraffes and jaguar.
by the way, Panthers are not a specific breed of cat, Panthers are black leopards, if you look at one close enough they have spots just like a leopard, their fur is just too dark to see it from far away.
neither if the two you mentioned are extinct.
and no.. the pink panther is completely fictional.
Reply:Black Panthers are not extinct, but are acually jaguars with a darker coating of fur. The Lynx is an ENDANGERED specie, although it is not yet extinct. NONE of the ones you listed are. You may get a type of Lynx in the British countryside though I donot know where. and no, you will never ever get a pink panther:)
Reply:1) You forgot the one that's furry if it doesn't get a wax.
2) 99.9 percent of them are in captivity.
3) Nah it's a marketing ploy to scare people into New Hampshire.
4) Ask Peter Sellers or paint a black one.
