What mythological/fantasy creature is the greatest?

\

Have a favorite mythological beast? Winged fantasy creature?

Post your favorite, with a descriptive reason why it is your favorite fantasy creature.

(Please no real animals such as penguins, squirrels, lions, tigers, bears.......dogs, cats, etc. Only animals of legend, myth, cultural lore.)

What mythological/fantasy creature is the greatest?
My favorite fantasy creature would be Drizzt Do'Urden. He is a Drow (dark elf) that is good and is one of the best characters ever created in my opinion.

More into Mythology than fantasy, I like Coyote. Coyote is similar to Loki because he's a trixter. I love these charaters for some reason. Coyote isn't the greatest mythological creatures ever, infact; he probably has more weaknesses as a character than others. That might be why I like him. Coyote does liven the stories and teaches great lessons though.
Reply:The Unicorn as I think it is the most beautiful, elegant, mystical, magical and powerful of all mythological creatures Unicorns had healing powders held within it's horn which was able to prevent poison from harming people
Reply:For me... It's the Asian Dragon.

The Asian dragon is a symbol of good luck, and are wise, benevolent creatures. They rule a kingdom at the bottom of the sea, where they swim. The royal, or imperial dragons have five toes, while the common ones have just four.
Reply:I will say the Enkidu the reason why is because the gods took him to planet nibiru and he records his event and makes it sound like a sci fi movie
Reply:I love them all...Unicorns, fairies, elves, gargoyles, dragons, etc.....
Reply:the Greek %26amp; Norse father Gods!

no one has ever brought them down according to the myths!
Reply:Medieval Dragons.... they where believed to be the reason for dense scary fog in the nights and had an spell to control kingdoms destinies, Medieval Dragons where wise, ancient and invincible, they were tie to the land in ways allot more than just inside of a cave, if the Dragon was in a bad mood earth quakes would shake towns and destroy castles... lucky the sorcerer that could control a Dragon, he controlled entire kingdoms, the only way you could control a Dragon was if he told you his name under the power of an spell!!!!
Reply:unicorn, without a doubt!
Reply:Got to be Nessy!!
Reply:You seem to forget that according to the Native American mythology, most of their "fantasy creatures" were bears and wolves and deer and other woodland animals. Also were the spirits of the trees and rocks and rivers.
