Lion VS Tiger?

How come you never see a lion fighting a tiger on nature shows is it that rare? If it did happen who would win?

Lion VS Tiger?
The reason that tigers and lions are never seen on nature shows fighting are because they live on different continents. Lions live in Africa (for the most part) and tigers live in Asia.

There is only one place in the wild where the lion and tiger range overlaps- the Gir Forest. Even there, lions and tigers hardly ever come across eachother, since the Gir Forest doesn't make great tiger "turf" so even there, tigers hardly ever meet up with lions.

Many people, because of this overlap in territory, claim that ligers and tigons can be found in the wild. This isn't true though. Lions and tigers never mate in the wild, because they are not wired to do so, for the same reason that you don't see people mating with apes.

This myth was aroused to try and prove that it's eithical to hybridize lions and tigers, though it certainly isn't. The lion/tiger offspring suffer with gigantism, dwarfism, deformities, short lives, chronic problems, etc. The healthy ones often on display are rare. All the sickly ones are killed. That was a little off topic but I had to put it in there. I hate that people breed ligers and tigons.

The only nature shows that ever show them fighting are usually just fake. They are just people being stupid and forcing animals to fight for "good" TV.

If it did happen, chances are the tiger would win. The tiger has more mouscle mass and is much more heavy than the lion. Also, lions hunt and kill together, not usually alone unless they had to or felt very threatened.

I hope all that helped, and that I answered your question well!
Reply:I would say the Lion...

Lions are King of the beasts...
Reply:Lions live in Africa. Tigers don't, so they would not normally come into contact with one another.
Reply:tiger
Reply:i think a tiger would win because of its speed. you don't see them fight because they never live in the same area.
Reply:For the most part lions and tigers live in comletely different areas so they have no contact.

As to who would win, there was cable show a couple years back where they "pitted" two species who have no contact in the wild together to see who would win. They designed robots and using knowledge of behavior made computer animations that would show what might happen. They did one on lions and tigers. The lion won. The lion won because lions live in social groups so they know how to fight (yes even the big lazy males).

I interpreted the question to mean African lions and Indian tigers. The numbers of the Asiatic lions are so small today that most tigers probably never encounter them. And the prides are very small (1male with 2-3 females) unlike African lions.
Reply:I would say the lion would win because he's THE KING OF THE JUNGLE!
Reply:Tigers come from India Lions come from Africa So I think they would have fight by email.

A full grown tiger is about half as big again as a full grown Lion .

So my money would be on the tiger
Reply:well a tiger would win, unless they were fighting a lioness, because the male lions sleep and eat, well the lioness' hunt.

And to the previous answer actually they do, in India lions and tigers live together. Thus the myth* of ligers

*actually they are real but not found in wild
Reply:lion because he is very hot climate and weighs a lot
